Home automation using cell phone via DTMF

Abstract:

As name suggested, Home Automation using Cell Phone is going to be used for control the home appliances. It enables you to control home appliance ON or OFF like Bulbs, Fan, and Television etc with the pressing of your mobile key from anywhere. There are no needs of specific remote for this, user can use any Cell Phone to control these appliances. So if you forgot to switch OFF the lights or other appliances while going out, it helps you to turn OFF the appliance with your cell phone. You only have to call on a particular number and press mobile key according to your wishes to ON or OFF, there is unique key number assigned for particular device. Thus, your cell phone works as remote control for your home appliances. There is another mobile phone connected in the circuit through headphone which receives the ‘Dual Tone Multiple frequency (DTMF) tone by headphone and proceeds it to the circuit attach with it. Now micro – controller send the proper commands to the ULN 2003 IC which controls the relays. These relays control switching of devices connected to it, thus devices turn ON or OFF with help of these relay.

Our Home Appliances Control using Mobile is basically controlled by micro – controller AT89S52 (8051 family). The mobile connected to the circuit receive DTMF tone by user call and sends it to DTMF decoder IC MT8870 through headphone. This IC decodes signal into binary and after then forward it to the controller. Controller checks it with saved data with helps in understanding that which devices have to control. After then controller sends commands to the ULN2003. The ULN2003 IC, Relay Driver IC, connected in between micro – controller and relays. Thus, each relay receives signal from this IC and be ON or OFF according to the commands. Along which these relay the devices also control, each devices has a particular relay as switch. Thus, our Home appliances Using Cell Phone control your devices switching without any error. This system is economically cheap and easy to apply.
